I've been looking for this Robert intermittently for years. I have seen his marriage to Margaret Millar or Anderson on 10 February 1905 in Glasgow, and can confirm that he was the one born at Glengarnock Iron Works on 29 November 1859, parents James Wotherspoon (1806-1896) and Margaret Waddell (1819-1908) who were married on 9 July 1837 in Shotts, Lanarkshire.
His first wife is said to have been Agnes Spittal, but so far I have found nothing to confirm or refute this.

Thank You ***alviegal***,
These latest posts of yours look very promising, especially the possible identity of the first wife Agnes.
I will spend the weekend going through these very closely, but I think I need to look further into a couple of Robert D Wotherspoon's Uncles and Aunts before I can piece the jigsaw together.
A "Big Thank You" for all this great work.
Best Wishes,
James

Now this is very strange. Robert (not sure if this is father or son) Margaret, John and Agnes, are cited to appear before the court in April 1909 for the settlement of the account of Agnes Wotherspoon, deceased. They had to show cause as to why a special guardian should not be appointed to them.
The same passage is in a paper in Sept 1907 and Agnes' estate is mentioned in 1906.
I have not found her marriage or death yet, but Robert remarried in 1905 to Margaret.

That is excellent ***alviegal***,
The 1861 census transcription details for Wetherspoon fit exactly with the Wotherspoon family I have on my tree, they appear to have moved between 1845 and 1849 from Lanarkshire to Ayrshire.
Also the information from the 1930 United States Federal Census and the Florida death details look very much to be those of the Robert D Wotherspoon that I am looking for, he was an Engineer's Manager according to the details of his marriage to Margaret Millar or Anderson.
Will now try to find out if he was previously married to an Agnes ???, which he allegedly was, in Nova Scotia, according to a Pedigree Resource File.
Many Thanks,
James.
