Can anyone assist me in establishing who Christian Wotherspoon born 23 Feb 1806, married

I have found two marriages and I cannot determine which is the correct one :-(

Gins and PricklyHolly, many thanks for that information, much appreciated.

I looked at the 1841 census earlier today for Alexander Gardner and Christiana Gardner, some of the children's christian names follow the pattern of my Wotherspoon's family names.

However, as they say, once bitten twice shy, so having once followed a wrong trail and ending up having to remove some 20 individuals from my tree, I am reluctant to accept Alexander Gardner as her husband until I am fully convinced he is the correct one.

I would guess that Jennet is either a sister of Christ* or sister inlaw

Too much of a coincidence not to be the correct family? Also, Root has found the other couple (Robertson) so that rules out the other marriage

Just catching up on this.
I agree with the others, this is the family of Christian Wotherspoon and Alexander Gardner.
Looking at this family, I would also agree that Christian was the daughter of John Wotherspoon and Janet Spittal.
The bigger question remains.... Was her father John Wotherspoon definitely the son of George Wotherpoon and Christian Burnett???
I can't see the name George appearing as either a sibling of her father or herself.

Born 14 Jan 1808 in Old Monkland.

He was most likely the eldest son..... you are back on track as his father John Wotherspoon will be the son of George Wotherspoon and Christian Burnett

I think I am might be getting somewhere, does this make sense, my George Wotherspoon married to Christian Burnett was the son of Robert Wotherspoon.

That George Wotherspoon had a brother John Wotherspoon b1764 and that John Wotherspoon married a Christian Mclearan on 15 Sep 1798, he was the father of George Wotherspoon b1801 who married a Jennet/Jannet/Janet Robertson in 1838, or maybe I have lost the plot again.

However his marriage to Christian Mclearan may be questionable as she is shown on a Family Search.org Ancestral File as being married to his father Robert Wotherspoon :-(
