It was an interesting one, Olive....happy to help. Gins, Chris and other helpers have also done great work here!

About the WWII record, after you go to the search page and enter his name, you should get 3 'hits'. Click on the one that is his service record. It will come up as a full page with just that record listing. On the top right there will be a link 'Request copy'.

Follow the prompts here. This record has not yet been examined so there is a cost involved, unfortunately. It will be either $16.50 (online) or $25 (colour copy mailed out as well as online). I'd go the online one as you can print it yourself. May take a while though!

P.S. I think perhaps Bert & Ettie divorced, which would explain why she died as Barnsley - I feel fairly certain this is she, as posted earlier:

You may be able to leave your contact details with the funeral director, if they are willing to pass them on to next of kin. Then it would be up to them if they wanted to get in touch. They appear to be based in Ballina (just Google).
