I am quite new to this and am trying to find a Richard Norman McCormick who travelled to Canada from Liverpool (I think) between 1923 and 1937. His DOB is 1903.

I am i little confused now so should give you all details. Apparentely my father was born in Canada (William James McCormick dob..1930 and his sister Elizabeth dob...1928) but their father Richard Norman and mother were never married (we were told?). She is supposed to have died and he returned to England with the children. My father always claimed he returned when he was & 7 yrs old. It's quite difficult as we don't know their mothers name and dad has alzeimers now.

even if Ida and Richard did not marry ....... they could have said they were .............. and she could then have travelled under his name.
I know of someone who travelled to Australia around 1960, under the £10 scheme.
She said she was married to the father of the youngest 2 children, AND that the eldest had been officially adopted (nope!).
They did marry at some point after arrival.
It was discovered over 40 years later ..... and all people involved could have been expelled from the country. Fortunately, some bureaucrat was nice.
But they obviously did not have to present a marriage certificate as proof.
If this did not happen then, it was much less likely to have to be shown in the 1930s.
