my nan eva blanche attwood married an elmes....first name unknown....they had two children a son john kendrick elmes born 1920 and a daughter(my mum) born sept 20 1923 in the army barracks in jubblupore pakistan.i would really like to find out who my grand father was his name,d.o.b,and date of marriage.i would be very gratful for any imformation anyone could offer thanx....anne.

I'd be quite surprised if there were two women with her name in the same place at that time.

Mike, I don't think they are the same woman - one is born 1873 and the other (on the marriage) born 1899.

The one born 1873 would be a tad too old to be having children in the 1920s.

There are a number of ladies with surname Elmes dying in England with first names which are permutations of Eva or Blanche - I'm wondering if the mothers name given is incorrect.

Or did Mr Gvott change his name?

No Rose, there's no Gvotts anywhere.

Is there any stretch of the imagination it could be a mis-transcription of Wells - the name she married under in 1923. I do think it's possible when I look at it.
