Find Ancestors

I am trying to find any relatives of Grace Procter who emigrated to U.S.A. on the 14th October 1915 aged 30 years . Grace was born in Nelson Lancashire U.K. about 1889 father Joseph Procter Mother ( Susan Procter maiden name Crossley ) she had lots of siblings who stayed in the UK Grace came back over to England when she was in her sixties / seventies for a family funeral to Burnley Lancashire and sadly died whilst she was in Burnley . we know that she had relatives in the USA ie:- husband and children but we don't know Grace's married name . if any one can help I would be greatful I have tried searching the USA marriage records but can't seem to get anywhere .

Hi yes this is the right family Grace is my great aunt I am trying to find out what happened to her after she went to the USA and hopefully find her relatives over there I can find nothing about her after she lands in New York on the 14th October 1915 , thanks for replying though

Do you know whose funeral it was she came over for so we can narrow down the date of death? I have a list of suspects but need to refine it!

Two have middle names so don't like those!

Preference is for Grace Burton as your Grace was born at the beginning of the year so would have had her birthday by the time of her death. Date of birth would probably be accurate on the death cert as she would have a passport with her.

it was one of her sister's Not emma or mona ( mona not on census list ) but can't be any more specific I recall my grandmother telling me . I think grace is either buried at Burnley or wheatley lane ( nr Burnley )

Grace Bell is on the probate register. She lived in Hunslet Street and probate went to Nellie Whittaker and Vera Hathrill.

Anything familiar there? If not, that's more evidence for Burton.

There isn't an incoming passenger of the right name in 1958 so back to the drawing board!

Did they marry? We need to work out which funeral Grace was coming to!

and died as Judith H Maccabe in 1963 Q4 - so it can't be Grace Bell as she died earlier in the year.

Bertha marries John Tempest in1906.
He died 1934 and she married Albert R Chadwick in 1936.
He died 1938 and she married Ernest Smith in 1942.

They don't half go through husbands this lot!!!!!

judith did marry joseph bibby , and you have the right Bertha think she had a grandaughter Francesca Tempest , I have looked on passenger lists and US census but can find nothing ( it's doing my head in )

Did Mary marry Jack Gent?

When you search US census is there somewhere you can put in the names of the parents?

Jack Gent rings a bell but not 100 percent , on USA census can't put parents , I found a Grace Procter on 1920 census reg as a widow from Lancashire but 28 years of age so too young for my Grace . can't find a grace Procter < Burton or Bell on 1920 , 1930 , 1940 think I will give it a rest shortly thanks for all your help

How do you search American marriages? Is it safe to assume she married in Connecticut as that is where she went out to?

And who were the uncle and aunt she joined there? Are they also from Lancs?
