This is so interesting - I'm not quick off the mark copying records
There are Overens in strange places
OVERENS Kay Alexandra Nigeria 1968
Knowing the country very well you will probably find an Overens went to Nigeria when the gold mining started and more than likely married a local.
Ship RAWALPINDI
John OVERENS 1908
M
1931 London to Tangier Morocco
Matthais OVERENS 1869
M
1931 London to Tangier Morocco UK address 65 Orme street Oldham

Dear Jax, You are a super star! Don't know how you found all the death details but glad he lived to a good age. Just sorry he didn't have any sons! Currently following leads in Sweden, Canada & Illinois as a result of your advice. Many thanks, Lucy

Dear Jax, Thanks! As you can see, they are mostly women and I do have a record of all the men apart from the two who were mistranscribed. Harold Whitehead was my best bet for an heir and I know he married in 1906 to a girl named Alice yet don't know if they had any issue. They didn't in the 1911 census have anyone living with them then. He then went to WWI and I have lost track of him after that. Don't think he died but not sure what did happen... It's intriguing - is it very common do you think to have literally the LAST of a surname? Lucy

Dear Jax, Thanks for your help so far! Yes, father John b 1939, (only child) Grandfather John b 1908 (no male siblings) G grandfather Matthias b 1869 (no male siblings) Gg grandfather John b 1843 (brother who died aged 4, brother James b. 1845 who had son Harold b 1882 but I think Harold had no male issue) Ggg grandfather Matthias b 1800 (no info on siblings or parents)
Very interesting about Richard Herbert Overens or Overend (my suspicion is the surname has been mistranscribed somewhere along the line...).
How are you able to see the records so easily? I am having to pay to look up rcords from 1911 census!
Many thanks again, Lucy

John in 1939 was the last one before him, was that his father?
Ok checked so since 1908 there have only been three births for that surname....those being him, his father and grandfather

My husband appears to be the last surviving Overens on the planet despite my best efforts to find another branch of the family tree. His mother is still living but she was not born an Overens. I have traced the Overens family line back to Matthias Overens b.1800 in Lancashire. I think I have exhausted all branches of the tree that originate from him. I do not know what to do next but felt it was an intriguing situation possibly interesting to genealogists. Or maybe not?! My request is for help to confirm or refute the claim that Richard Alexander Overens is the last of his line (we do not have any children). Many thanks for any help in this matter, Lucy Bickley
