Hello Everyone that helped me. Just to let you know that the marriage Certificate of William Stone in India has arrived but has not helped me in my research. I shows that he married on 30 Dec 1860 Lucknow East Indies, there are no fathers names on there so this did not help me to find out who there fathers were and has Wife Margaret has her name as Margaret Walsh (Widow) so i am unable to find her maiden name. So i do not know if she married first time in England Derby was here birth polace on the 1881 census or India They did look for Francis Birth for 1872 but this came back that they were unable to trace him. I may have to order one of his siblings births in India as i have the GRO index number already given on this thread already.
Does anyone know if this would have the maiden name on???
Thankyou again for everyone that help me in the pasts

Mel I see something about Samuel Stone and there were in the same regiment. Do not know where he fits in, but there are a few Stone in the area at that time.
On reading the report I am happy this is my William. So i know his mum name was Harriett...according to what it says for the 1851 census.

When I was looking through the millitary records I did see a Samuel Stone on the same page as a William and a Henry Stone.

My dad has just said the he was told that William met his wife who work with Florence Nightingale, with would tie in with the 1901 census for Margaret being a Nurse. posted earlier.
I can not say how grateful i am that everyone has helped me so much. I am just hoping that this all ties in together.

Vera Thank you for sending me his Finishing paper. As it show the date and age when he both joined and left the Army i can now narrow his Birth to August/September 1836 This help me a lot as i can now check at Bristol records office for his Baptism and hopefully find his parents and any siblings if he had any. Thanks Tina

This is the census from Ancestry that Chris put up. they have William's age wrong but on the form in a circle under age is 55.
The only trouble is that Eli Francis Elliot married Mary JANE Cockell and a Joseph Cockle is also a lodger.
1891 England Census about Eli Francis Elliott Name: Eli Francis Elliott Age: 31 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1860 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Mary Jane Elliott Gender: Male Where born: Frome, Somerset, England Civil parish: Bedminster Ecclesiastical parish: Holy Nativity County/Island: Somerset Country: England Street Address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage: Registration district: Bedminster Sub-registration district: Bedminster ED, institution, or vessel: 40 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 1951 Folio: 116 Page Number: 49 Household Members: Name Age Eli Francis Elliott 31 Mary Jane Elliott 28 Born Westbury Wilts**************** Joseph Cockle 22 ***************** William Stone 80 William Richards 29
This lady was also Mary Jane and not Mary Ann as William's dau was.
Married 10th June 1889 St Mary Recliffe Church, Bristol
Children William Francis Elliott 1892 – 1937 Walter Reginald Elliott 1894 – 1949 Maude L Elliott 1896 – Dorothy Maud Elliott 1898 – There is even a picture of Mary Jane Cockell on a tree on Ancestry.

Mel Thank you again for your reply I dont think this is him either. It seems that he must have joined the Fusiliers in 1853 and went to India then. I dont know when he came back only that his last child was born in 1873 India and then he is on the 1881 census. My William Stone is going around and around in my head now and i can not out him down...lol This is why i had to stop the research before. I am going to look at the Fusilier side to, as i did not know about that
