Hello, I'm trying to confirm that Alice Jessica Maud North married someone with the surname Wellington. She arrived in the US in 1946, aged 35, and was divorced, her maiden name was Morris, and I'm sure she lived in California all her life. I would also like to find records of her death, and that of her spouse. She died around 1980, he died before the early 70's. This is all the information I have. Please advise how I can find out more.

The marriage is registered three times, under: North, Morris and Wellington

I have her daughter's details (she is my half sister) and it was her marriage record that made me think that Alice had married someone called Wellington, because Alice's maiden name was Morris, she married and divorced Stanley North (my father) and I was just wondering where the Wellington came from?
My cousin thinks Alice may have remarried, but is not sure, but this may explain the Wellington connection?

The birth record for Warrington is correct, I don't have the exact date. I've just realised I misread the year of death, it would have been the late 1980's, 1980 is probably a bit too early. Gins, although the death record has the right christian names but in the wrong order, I think this is way too late, but thanks for finding it.
I could ask my half sister, but I've only just found out about her after 55 years, so don't really want to ask about her mum just yet. I was just curious about the Wellington link! Thanks for all your interest.

If you send for her certificate you would have a better chance of finding her death

Its just guess work really at this point, thats why I posted the 2006 death.

What makes you think she died in the late 1980s and that she married again?

Re: that death notice - I've found a marriage of a Wyndham Morris and Alice Green in Warrington 1906. Seems to tie in with the 1911 where Alice J M is in Orford Barracks with a couple fitting the bill (not shown together as a family, though - the husband, wives and children all seem to have been listed separately).

mgnv - like I mentioned above, they aren't shown in family units so there's nothing further on that 1911 to group them together.

Thank you all for all this info! I think the death in 1990 of Alice Jessica Kerr is probably correct, the information relating to her parents in Warrington also sounds plausible. Orford Barracks is in Warrington, and if Wyndham Morris was in the army the family may have just been listed as being in army accommodation, rather than a household, in 1911?
Doesn't solve the mystery of where 'Wellington' comes from though! It could be a transcription error, or could it be the groom's mother's maiden name, as Morris is the bride's mother's maiden name?
