Hi Meg - might be an idea if you click on Shelagh's name to send her a message letting her know about your connection. I'm sure she'd be pleased to hear about it, as it's been a few months she mightn't be checking this thread for further replies. You can also attach the photos to your direct message. |

Hi,poor Albert! His marriage must have been on the rocks if he went to Chester in1919.She left the country in 1920 so perhaps she didn't like his new false teeth! I have found a marriage for Fred P Jordan in 1923 to Florence E Hawkes so I'll do a bit digging on Ancestry. |

Sorry Shelagh, if you meant my earlier comments I meant the oldest of the sons that had been on the shipping list and then crossed out - namely Alfred. |

Hi,going back to 1911 census, the eldest Jordan son was Frederick Percy b 1898. He must have stayed aged 22 in 1920. |

No, I think you're right Gins. This is most likely the death for that probate record: |

Many thanks to all!! Lots to think about. I haven't been able to find deaths for the 1st spouses before 1920 so ........ They travelled to Canada as a married couple with her children, obviously a moonlight flit! I will research his children with Mary Burn and may uncover something! |

Very interesting, MC! I decided to look at the 1901 census to see what they were doing. He was a labourer at a paper mill. (Wonder if that was Pearsons?) Address then was 34 Randolph Rd. William Bescott was a boarder. |

Well, I'm waiting with bated breath, Marie Celeste. Are you a 2-finger typer like me? I wish Shelagh would come back to see what she says about all of this. |

Here's the 1911 for Ethel Annie and Albert Walter - note their address and his occupation as I have something else interesting to follow: |

It is odd, but perhaps Mr Jordan was a bad lad and she was escaping him? It's also odd that the eldest son had been intended to travel but crossed off the list. The younger children would possibly have no idea what their names were recorded as. |

Curious though that she would bring her Jordan children to Canada calling them Hurlbutt. If Mr. Jordan was still living, wonder what he thought about that? |

Well, I think we've uncovered a bigamous marriage in Canada. Think we should report it? |
