Gateshead and Newcastle were in different Counties: they're on opposite sides of the Tyne |

Try looking for them under their birth surname |

Thank you, I have these...it seems Annie/Amy either abandoned her family or divorced possibly as she disappeared after 1891 , further records of Edmondson record him as still married but no sign of his wife. |

Reggie, I had some notes from years ago saying its possible she died in Ireland. Maybe she was just visiting her family or died suddenly...who knows.. |

Divorce simply didn't happen for anyone other than the very wealthy and/or influential |

Sue - I would recommend you remove the "mark thread as answered" tick. It looks as though there are still records to find but people won't bother with this thread if it appears that everything has been resolved. |

Just wondering if the Hutch in this 1891 is actually Hatch and Cecil is staying with relatives? |

This 1881 shows that Robert Hatch is Annie/Amy's brother so I'd say that is definitely "our" Cecil in 1891: |

On the 1901 Scottish census Robert Hatch is using the middle name "Burgess" so I'm wondering if the BS initials for Henry on the 1871 are Burgess Singleton? |

Yes, here's Henry in 1911 and he's named his younger daughter after his mother: |

This looks like his marriage to Louisa: |
