Thank you all very much for this help, I'm amazed! It's a revelation in the true sense.
Beverley, that's terribly sad about the bankruptcy. He died in 1897 aged 45, it must have been a hard life. They had at least three children that died as babies. And yes, I believe he was related to the Leveson-Gower family because the children were all typical names like Granville. But I can't find how, have been looking - his father's name was William. No birth or census that I can find.

PS. I'll take the advice and post an australian message as there are Leveson Gowers in Perth I see. Maybe one of their offspring survived.

Nothing on the census or birth records and the info I have came from Minnie's marriage cert. I think they must be related to the aristocratic family as one of the children was named Granville.

Shirley, I have some records from Oz, but I will certainly take your advice and post an 'oz' request. I still have some gaps.

Charles Thomas's occupation was commercial clerk (like Minnie's father) maybe that's how they met! William was a 'builder' and deceased at the time of their marriage. Not very ariso jobs!
