Yes - I had been looking at that Ginns but I can't see where it fits in.
I tried to follow the couple and did find a George and Jane who fitted on 1911 BUT I also found that Augustus was married to a Jane but the step children they had with them were called Lewis so maybe that Jane was really Jenny ???

No problems Gillian but could you please delete the new thread before people start finding this info all over again.
Thanks,
Dea x.
P.S. - I really don't think that George ever married Jennie - I can see no death for her under that name either and as he remarried, there should have been.
I will look further and see if I can come up with anything useful.

Sorry everyone, I hadnt read the rules on this. Apologies.
I am assuming that Jennie and George are married on the 1901 census - and what Im hoping is that for Douglas Davies to be listed as nephew @ 9 months, that she would be his aunt (by his birth mother).
I need to find a link between Alice Ann Davies (maiden name Edwards) and Jennie I think.
Douglas Davies (Douglas Leslie Davies) was my great-grandfather.
In the 1911 Census, Leslie (Douglas Leslie) is shown as the adopted son of Joshua and Ada - Joshua is the son? of George and his first wife Mary Ann, or the brother? of George and his wife Jennie.
Thank you, and sorry again for adding a new thread.

Its all sooooo frustrating.
I dont know why, but I keep coming back to Jennie (see note below) and whether in some way she was connected to Alice Ann Davies (the birth mother).
However other than the details on this census, I cannot find any other details about Jennie.
Any other thoughts/possibilities??? you've all been so kind and helpful.

The handwritten notes on the marriage certificate of Douglas Leslie and Hannah Elizbeth are apparently the notes that appear in the original entry (according to the certificate wording).
Making reference to column 2 - name and surname, with a "2" over Leslie and "1" over Douglas - I think its referring to the fact that it should be the other way round, given his birth name. Leslie Douglas Davies (although should be Douglas Leslie) is also written down the side as "3" for the surname in column 2 - this is signed by the Rector

I do have his marriage certificate, he's listed himself as Leslie Douglas Stone, but it has the name of his adoptive father - Joshua Leopold Stone - on it, with an occupation of Fitter (21st April 1924 - No. 217).
It has a load of hand-written notes down the end of the certificate which Im going to see if I can blow up on the printer and read - I can see the name Leslie Douglas Davies on it

I think George Stone may have re-married after the death of Mary Ann Stone in 1892. Married a Jennie (but got no details) and on the 1901 census (listed earlier on this thread) Leslie (Douglas Leslie) is listed as nephew at 9 months with George and Jennie.
Could the connecion between birth parents and adoptive family of Stone, be Jennie and Alice Ann(e) Davies? Under her maiden name of Edwards, did Alice have a sibling called Jennie?
Unfortunately I have no details on Jennie.

Hi Gins, I found this family too - hence my asking earlier in the trail if there was a closer connection between Hilda and my great-grandfather (ie twins, albeit 5 months apart in age, if hers is correct). However, the head of the family (Emil) looked to be wrong, Im looking for an Albert George married to Alice Ann(e).
How you all keep your cool with things like this is beyond me.
Thank you for the continued support, help and suggestions.
