But there is no Elsie Godwin about who fits. And no Mr Godwin who married an Elsie. |

I think I need to research back into the Smallwooods. Maybe finding the family in 1891, before Ada was born and when her father was still alive may throw some light on it. |

Well just a thought but if he married in 1918 to Ada he didnt have any children with her as theres no Davenport/Smallwood children listed . |

What a pity there are no more census's after 1911, so we can check up on the family. :-D |

I've had a thought now. If he did separate and masquaraded as being married to Elsie Godwin - is there a death for an Elsie Davenport? |

As Rose noted, there are 3 Burton/Godwin kids 1915q3-1921q3, then there are 2 rego'ed as both Burton & Davenport with mum's MS=Godwin 1923q3-1926q2. All 5 were rego'ed in Stoke RD. Finally there are 3 Davenport/Godwin daurs rego'ed in the Sandbach subdistrict of Congleton RD 1928q4-1934q2. |

The births haven't been registered twice - they have been indexed twice because the parents weren't married but the father was present at the registration and agreed to his name being put on the registration as the father. |

It's probably not Elsie Ada because there's no death for a Davenport in that name, unless she died as a Burton. |

In think you might need 2 certs. One to confirm who Elizabeth's father is and another from the earlier Burton children to see those details. Update when you can. |
