Obituary for Hy Richmond Sparks:
Williamstown Chronicle, Friday 2 July 1943
MR. H. R. SPARKS.
A well-known resident of Seves St., Altona, Henry Richmond Sparks, died on Tuesday morning at his residence, after a brief illness. He was born at Adelaide, Sth. Australia, 87 years ago, and had resided in Altona for over twenty years. His wife predeceased him three years ago. The funeral, private, took place on Wednesday morning, leaving his residence for interment in the New Melbourne Cemetery, Fawkner. Ernest W. Jackson had charge of the funeral arrangements, and the Rev. S. P. H. Martin officiated at the cemetery.

Rosetta is with him; she died in Oct 1921 aged 59. Above says '3 years ago' so perhaps he remarried. Edward Joseph WALLIS (d. July 1952 aged 64) and Lillian (d. 1965 aged 76) are also at Fawkner.

Bit more on Sparks - Hy Richmond Sparks' father's arrival in SA as a child with his parents from www.familyhistorysa.info/colonists.html:

??? possible for Edward Jos' (c1887-1952) parents' marriage ??? assuming error for his father's name on his death reg (remembering this relied on the informant's knowledge - may have made an assumption based on his middle name) - mother's unusual surname is the key:

Aha! There is a place called Dargalong Rd in Wahring, Victoria. :-) I think this is him!!! Siblings were born in Murchison and Seymour, also very closeby to Wahring. But they moved around a bit.

On two of the deaths, mother is shown as Bridget Ann, which fits with a GREAGAN birth in Pleasant Creek. This has to be her:

I believe it is him, yes. The Edward WALLIS b. c1887/8 Naring [Waring, Victoria on original] on his service record, matches with the Edward WALLIS b. 1888 Dargalong, which is not realy a town in itself anymore, but is in a place called Wahring.

The other connection is that most of his family [siblings and mum] seemed to change to WALLACE, as did Edward's 2 children who married as WALLACE.

You would need to get certificates to be certain.

Mavis died in 1975 aged 58 (reg 5346).

Could be where the name Harding comes from? One of Hy & Mary's sons had this as a 2nd given name (as did Wm & Annie). Or is it coincidence?

Fits with an 1823 birth, though I can't see it in NSW bdm.

The parents names were sent to me- but i havent confirmed a connection-i will re check with the source again to see why they think it is correct-thats why i searched for the marriage

Best bet would be Wm & Annie's marriage certificate. :-) You can order an uncertified image online relatively cheaply (about A$18), comes as a pdf 'on the spot'.
