Hi I am trying to find some family records details for a member of my family tree.
May Emily Maher born 14/12/1905 Ireland maybe in Co Cork area
Died 1998 Sandwell, West Midlands
parents Joseph Maher Catherine O'Neill May went on to Marry Michael Griffin and lived in the Youghal area Co Cork

If born in 1905 she and her parents presumably should appear in the 1911 census of Ireland. As that census form contained a "Where born" question. Have you looked for them on the census which if found should hopefully indicate where May Emily was born?

Yes I have looked but don't see them there? May was my brother in laws mother but he was separated from her as a small child It was thought May was born 1915 but this is I believed to be her death record

The fact that she does not appear in the 1911 census of Ireland brings into question that the death you have found may not be of the person that you seek.

Although it might not lead anywhere it may be prudent to obtain a copy of that death certificate to see whether that holds any clues as to the deceased's origin or background. Clues such as who registered the death, address prior to death, widow of ect.

Any ideas as to why your B-I-L thinks that she might has ended her days in Sandwell in the West Midlands?

Just using the logic of Geography I wonder whether or not this might be the person who died in Sandwell in 1998:

I was talking on the phone last night to a gentleman who was married at one point to May's daughter Katherine Griffin and he knew May and It was him that gave me the death area and date 1989 as they live in the same area Handsworth, West Midlands

When and where was her daughter Katherine born please?

I have found some of Mary/ May Maher's documents on her College report 1932 she is May Maher and the same name is on her Chapel certificate
but from time to time I have came across her know as Mary?

Hi Cathy died a few years back Joseph Michael is my brother in law and still around today and it was thought there was also another child died as a baby?

Gins May/Mary did died in the West Midlands around 1989/1990 as confirmed by Cathy's Ex husband I was speaking to him last night
he said that May/Mary died in the Handsworth area of West Bromwich
the Sandwell died seems to tie in to his details
