Thanks, Margee. I did try the link you give but couldn't find her! She is actually Selina. |

Thanks, again, Margee. So, she wasn't a widow when she travelled to Canada. |

Curious! The 1911 census says that he emigrated 1900. That's 8 years before she did! And there were children born during that time. Maybe she was a widow. I'm off to look at that passenger list again. |

Margee, I am trying to help a distant relative with this one. She is descended from Selina's son, John. Selina was married to a Frederick William Brown, in London in 1894. |

There is this Selina in 1901 listed as married - on the passenger list in 1908 I think it says Fisherman after husband - the husband's occupation as with other wifes in the list - Edit - Sorry just read your post and you will have this |

Now I'm confused, Potty. According to the 1911 census son Fred was 14 but father George only 29. Was he really only 15 when son was born? Or is he indeed 2nd husband of Selina? But then was she a widow Brown who married a Brown? |

Thanks, K, but that is not the Selina we are looking for. Our Selina was Selina Frances Hodder and we do have her in 1901 with Frederick. It is the (supposed) marriage to George that is we can't find. |

Yes, it is very confusing, Margee. I have been looking at this since midday, as well as a few hours yesterday, and wish I could refresh myself! |

I now have an image of Selina's marriage to Frederick Brown but it is not very clear. It is Frederick's father's occupation that I am trying to find. |

Agree, Tracey, very unclear. I think the image is of the original cert from 1894, so I would expect it to be a bit faded! |
