Isn't it odd that his mother Catherine had a nephew, also called Martin, of the same age, and with the same birthplace, on the 1911 census?

According to the original form Catherine had been married 22 years (who's the husband and where is he?) and had only had the one child, who was still alive. So - that child must be Michael. Or does she just mean that she has one child still at home?

There was also a Martin Cassidy on the 1901 as a boarder but born in Ireland. Things don't tie up ......

Hi,
Only started on this yesterday for my friend. We started with his grandfather John Jordan who was the son of Michael Jordan.Michael Jordan married Margaret Quinn. Looking on the 1911 census records we obviously found John with his parents and grandmother 3,Yard,1 East Street,Batley.
I then checked the 1901 census for Michael,found the same as Marieceleste posted above,then looked at the 1891 census and found the afore mentioned Martin,Mary E and Annie.
Michael and Margaret only had two children John born 1910 and Kathleen born 1918. Margaret died either in child birth or just after.
This is all I know to date

1891 census shows Catherine with her husband,now I think his name looks like Ulick but find my past printed form says Alick. I have found a death for a Ulick Jordan for 1911,age 48,

This Martin stops appearing in the censuses? Does he end up with the name Jordan and then revert back to Cassidy?


I'd have a guess that Kate/Catherine are the same person and that she was the mother of Martin Cassidy/Jordan

On the original of the 1904 NY arrival that Ellie posted, the line for Martin Jordan has been crossed out.

On the 1901 I posted above, both Martin Cassidy AND Martin Jordan are listed. But, the birthplace for that Martin Cassidy is Ireland. Too much of a coincidence, though?

Back on line after showing friend all the info. We are both trying to figure out if Martin Cassidy and Martin Jordan are one of the same. Is there any possibility that anyone can find Ulick Jordan on the 19901 and 1911 census. He died in 'sept'1911. Also Mary E and Annie Jordan.

This is Annie with John Gannon. Not having much luck with 1911.
