Find Ancestors

I have a Margaret Cunliffe born 1860. On her marraige in 1880 Heywood, to Thomas Nicholson it states she was born in Droylsden, Lancs. She died in 1883 . Her father on Birth Certificate was John, Copper miner. The address at marraige was for both Thomas and Margaret, 38, Brierley Street, Heywood. Apart from this census thomas lived in Droylsden and was born there, can anyone help with who her father might be ?

But I thought it told you on the birth cert? Or do you mean the marriage certificate?

I've never seen a marriage certificate give a place of birth?

Haslingden is 20 miles from Droylsden.

Sory i did mean marraige certificate,

The Thomas is definatly my great grandad but dont know why they would be in Heywood to marry. She actually died in Droylsden and He is named on the death certificate in 1883, wonder if there is a mistake on her place of birth on census poss.

Lesley, it may be because all of the Nicholsons were from Droylsden that it was assumed Margaret was born there, too.

On the marriage certificate, did it say if her father was deceased?

Who were the witnesses?

Thanks I thought that. It doesnt say he is deceased and the witnesses were either Pte John Gratrix or Stephen Gratrix (hard to make out , and Jannett Sotherne
