'morning Chris!
Thanks for that newspaper reference. The additions of things like "youngest" and "only" are helpful.
In this case it should have been "only surviving son", as his brother Walter William died the year before. Kezia(h) died young too.
The "behind the name" site is good, too, thanks. Dulcibella is simply an old name, Keziah has Hebrew / biblical roots. Started me wondering about middle-European Jews again {smile}.
I was in touch with the Dorset OPC a couple of years ago, she is very, very helpful.

(worth a google for Kezia name, in fact, google always!, that's how Dulcibella Burial came up, and Dorset OPC good also)

Yes, that's her, thanks again.
I wonder where "Dulcibella" comes from, sounds Italian maybe?
Anyway, I'm now trying to piece together the Henry Virgint and Henry John Virgint families. Henry John & Walter William were sons of Henry 1809. WW died about 20.
There are other Virgints mentioned in census and other records but so far I haven't found links to these three (and Ellen Chick of course).
edit: Found Kezia, daughter of Henry. Where might the name Kezia come from?

Thanks safc!
There's a nest of Virgints, looks as if Henry Virgint 1809 was born in Colyton, Devon. His wife was Dulcibilla. I haven't found their marriage yet, nor Dulcibilla's maiden name ...

Henry John Virgint married Ellen Chick (Martha Chick's sister) in 1867.

The first one may have died.
Thanks Mike, I should have thought of that, given the number of offspring that seems pretty likely.
Have you looked on this site ?
I hadn't but have now. Surprise! there's an Ellen Virgent in Dorset.

Thanks yet again! What do you make of this:
Dorset, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 about John Chick Name: John Chick Event Type: Baptism Event Date: 23 May 1806 Parish: Bridport Father's Name: John Chick Mother's Name: Mary Chick
or
England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906 about John Chick Name: John Chick Gender: Male Birth Date: abt 1807 Christening Date: 9 Aug 1807 Christening Place: Bridport, Dorset, England Father's Name: John Chick Mother's Name: Mary
It looks pretty obvious that they are the same person. Did people separate christening and baptism? Or is this an error? Or something else? What's the most probable explanation?

You're way ahead of me LiverBird :-)
But isn't the Elizabeth (Lizzie?) Stacey niece and servant interesting.
So perhaps the Tolemans are part of the tree as well as running the hardware shop? Or might that "niece" be a euphamism?
I think I'll leave that for the moment, tho' - apart from anything else I have to digest all the other stuff. No sign of a Virgent yet either.
Can we reach any further back with the Cricks?
Thank you very much once again, this is excellent stuff.
