scrape everything, when I ordered Death record it confirmed that my William was born 28th November 1889 Wigtownshire, I have been updating my tree and talking to relatives to find out after more research that my William has been living under false identity, in fact the real William moved to Canada, so goodness knows what is going on :-(

yes I have marriage and death for William, and viewed Birth on Scotland people, no I don't think it matches census though Xx

So the 1889 birth cert matches the 1891 Scottish I posted on parents

But it does not still match the marriage cert

Do you have the death cert ?

Sorry Glitter the Birth information is from a viewing Scotlandpeople, it does match up with the death certificate though same town and birth date given.... now I know why I have no Address when he was born grrrrrr, got confused as the Scotland files gives us more information that our birth files Xx

forgot Father is a Farmer, so I don't understand why William changed his Fathers name to James :-S Xx

Reggie I am one of many Williams Hawthorn Great grandchild from the one Daughter they had Audrey trying to peace together the family history... its been a bit roller coaster, keep coming across brick walls Xx

What age does he give on his marriage cert ?

Reggie, witness was Ruth Mary Maddocks Sister Elsie Maddocks and her husband to be Water Robinson also Williams wife name is wrong too....... really her Birth name was Mary Ruth Maddocks Xx

If that service record is the right person, and it is a big if, then his age does not match that 1889 birth cert

yes I have then all in front of me, on his death certificate: born 28th Novenber 1889 mochrum Wigtownshire, on his marriage it does say Father James Hawthorn (deceased)

You are right........ may be some skeletons in the cupboard, it appears William lost contact with his family, but defiantly the same family Xx

It's rather a leap to insert a second forename.............when there isn't one on the marriage record
