I was worried that Jane Newton on the later census is born later than the poster suggested.

It seems clear to me now that Mary Jane Robinson marr John Newton 1881 Cockermouth. They had one daughter Catherine Newton b1882 Cockermouth. Mary Jane also died in 1882 Cockermouth. Catherine lived with her paternal grandmother Catherine Burgess 1891 & 1901. She then lived with her maternal grandmother Mary Robinson in 1911.

Hard to decipher whether Catherine is a widow or unmarried............

The 1891 fits with his correct age.......born c1855, not c1861, as you thought
