Find Ancestors

No reply for the guy as yet and I found another email for him and also wrote to that.

From what I have found on Google his son is getting married on the 12th Feb so maybe he is a bit busy.

I'am 62 by the way.
I have taken out worldwide Ancestry in the hope I could find something further,it seems Lionel P Percival brother to Hilda was a seasoned traveller.

If we could find an obituary for Hilda P Roberts nee Childs died 1982 maybe that would give up some clues.


Its one of those that I can't leave alone,I'm like a dog with a bone.

Hi Mary, I feel the same although Maureen feels that Zella could still be living, but I dont intend to contact her or anyone close to her, but I have joined the find a grave forum and have asked who is intered with James. hope I can find something more from that

I sure as heck wouldn't mind if a family member contacted me though!! (I've been fortunate that way-my family contacts are numerous. not via GR).

This is Hilda Percival arriving in Canada? 18/9/1919 Liverpool - Quebec on the ship Metagan she was born about 1894.

Original view very hard to see but there is darker writing by her name and the way I read it is she was travelling with Mrs Marguerite Leadby born ' 1890 and going to stay with her Aunt mrs Fox what looks like Nedeanville Sask (Saskatchwan) occupation domestic?

Hi received a new clip from someone called Jerri, I wondered what you could make of this, it has got me puzzled.


I see several stories about her horseracing down in Tiajuana, and she is listed as Miss Peggy Childs.

Then there's this story-

One of the women charged is Peggy Childs, 30, nationally-known woman jockey. Also Joan Baker, 29; Gird Russell, 29; and Kenneth Bausell, 32.

I see stories that say she has a one-horse stable with one horse, Willow Branch.

In a 1929 story, she is referred to as Miss Peggy Childs, from "deah ol' Lunnon".

I saw various postings theorizing that Margaret Childs was born in 1870; that cannot possibly be right, I saw pictures of her taken in the 1930's and she wasn't elderly.

I saw one story that talked about how Willow Branch had been shipped from San Ysidro. San Ysidro is the border crossing town to Mexico. Since I can't find them on censes, I'm thinking that maybe they lived in Tiajuana Mexico.

Good news I received reply from a lady I contacted last week.

She has offered to contact the daughter of Peggy/Hilda.

I forwarded said EMail to Heather and she has sent photo to the lady.

We will have to wait for the next installment.

The Bausell brothers mentioned in the paper were well known criminals,info on Google.
