Find Ancestors

After I posted the last note I saw that someone else was after an address search and they were given a thread which tells you how to look on ancestry, found Berry Street but as you say when I went into it it seems as though it was stone Street BUT I couldn't see them in district 14 so thinking they might have moved I've just gone through district 15 (51pages) but they're not there. so I think now I know what to do I'll try each district

image search by address is probably by Stone Street, which seems to have possibly small 'courts' off it but enumerators named it by both. I looked on FMP but don't have access at home and it was not working in the rec office this afternoon

As you can see from above Lancashire Ann has found a baptism in 1861 it looks like 40 Berry street /Derry Street

can anyone find this in 1861 please

I've tried searching for the family but nothing is showing up but thought if someone knows how to search by putting the address in??

the marriage link seems to work but the baptisms have taken a while to load

Sometimes when an update to the site has been done the link changes

An alternative way to look at them is to go into familysearch.org

scroll down to browse by location and select UK

scroll down to
England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers, 1603-1910

select then scroll down to browse images

you can then select Lancashire, the church you want and the records

the 1st baptism is on image 46 (type it in the box & press enter)

the 2nd baptism is image 77

the marriage is image 87

Joseph 31-3-1861 St Andrews - s Thomas (spinner) and Sarah of I think it says 40 Berry Street

As this is immediately before the 1861 census that is the most likely address for the family

Just been trailing through the 1861 censuses trying to find thomas b 1859

I'm 99% sure The marriage between Thomas & Mary Ellen Crosby is correct

It's the bits before that I can't find

Think I've seen this one somewhere might be 1891 has Thomas & william with Joseph and Back Nunns Sq looks good

Just checked and the 1891 does follow on from 1881 with more children
i have it that Thomas died 1896

If anyone can check with me /for me and see if I have got the right families?
The one I'm really unsure about is the last one Thomas a Tailor
apparently their is a Thomas a tailor & Sarah in 1861 census which doesn'y seem to match the info I have

there was a Thomas Turner living at 38 Chapel Street, manchester in the 1896 trades directory who was a chimney sweep. Directories took a couple of years to compile but strangely did not find a Henry Crosby in either that one or in 1895, nor did I find Thomas in 1895

I posted this on the other thread as well

the age on the marriage certificate for Catherine fits with the census of 1911 so is more likely to be right than the age on the death certificate. The person registering the death may not have known her exact age and made a guess. It frequently happened.

I must have done something wrong as I renewed my request very early this morning but just realised it didn't appear, it was at 3-30am

Could I be cheeky and ask for a 1911 census on Mary Ellen Cannon please Just wondering if one of her children from her first marriage might be living with her

As you say that could be Mary Ellen remarrying John must have been born before Mary & William Married in 1900 as in 1911 it has brother John W Turner
The 1991 Census was the one I was going off but if this is their mother what happened to them ??

Farm Labourer and Chimney sweep didn't seem right to me

But if I have got the right family Mary Ellen's father Henry was a chimney sweep ??

Just noticed this morning 1891 census Edward Turner 43 is living next door with wife Sarah Also Esther Crosby 59

This is where it gets complicated Thomas Turner 1857 had an uncle Edward 1848

Mary Ellen Crosby 1857 had a sister Sarah 1849

Could this be the missing link
