I found it interesting that if census 1911 is anything to go by, when Elijah Charles and Ada went their separate ways, Lily stayed with her stepmother Ada rather than her biological father Elijah Charles.

I guess Ada had been 'mother' from when Lily was tiny, though.

Could someone kind look this up for us please??

Hello everyone who helped with this search.

I have today received the birth certificate of Charles Henry Foreman born 29/11/1902 registered 14/01/1903.

His father was Elijah Charles Foreman and his mother Ada Foreman formerly Harrison. The father is listed as a coach painter (journeyman) and they were residing at 6 Hillery Road, Newington, London

I will now start looking for an Ada Harrison born nr Ely c 1878 and hope that she hadn't been married before!!

That explains where the Coventry came from on one of the census records. Obviously mispelt Coveney!

Oh well spotted. My hubby has been working on our roof so I have to keep going outside and holding or moving the ladder.

I wonder why they never married? Perhaps they just never got round to it as their daughter was born very early in the relationship....
