Ok this woman has given me issues for 5yrs!!! If I could go back in time I would strangle her for what shes done, but i guess she had her reasons... On her wedding certificate she is listed as Mary Ann Clarke, her husband is listed as George Wilfred Charles Murray, Her parents are listed as William Alexander Clarke and Hanna Bodel
I find out now his real name was George Frederick Charles Murray... He is listed as this name on his war certificates and death certificate (which has his kids listed which varified it is him and also same parents on his death as marriage certs etc)
So, I have sorted out HIS real name but not hers.... She was born around 1883, she lived in redfern and newtown nsw, I have her death cert and her marriage cert which say same parents names. But I cannot find her birth or ANYTHING about them. on her death cert and wedding cert it says she was born in Goulburn NSW and my nan remembers going to Lithgow area with her and Mary Ann told her this big farm was where she grew up... She did get an inheritance around 1940 but we do not know who from. she had children Rose Vera, Alma Irene, George Anzac Jack, Arthur Alfred William, Ronald A,
Well the issue is she told my grandmother that HER name was Mary Ann Bodel. And i am quite sure nan said that on her mothers wedding cert and death cert it states her name as Mary Ann Bodel...
The story is that Mary Ann was estranged from her parents (maybe because of her choice of partner)
So I need to find info on Mary Ann Clarke apparently born in Goulburn, to parents William alexander clarke, and hanna bodel. Maybe the parents were not married or maybe they were married in a different state? or maybe the names have been changed slightly as we saw on her wedding cert with george frederick charles being called george wilfred charles... it just puzzles me that her name is bodel on her daughters death and marriage certificates.
someone please help meeee :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Well this seems too much to be a coincidence!
Australia Birth Index, 1788-1922 about Mary Ann Bodle Name: Mary Ann Bodle Birth Date: 1881 Father's Name: Alexander Willi Bodle Mother's Name: Hannah Birth Place: New South Wales Registration Year: 1881 Registration Place: Goulburn, New South Wales Registration Number: 9867 And this seems to be her parents marriage
Australia Marriage Index, 1788-1950 about Alexander William Bodle Name: Alexander William Bodle Spouse Name: Hannah Clarke Marriage Date: 1877 Marriage Place: New South Wales Registration Place: Goulburn, New South Wales Registration Year: 1877 Registration Number: 2883
I would take a guess that the person registering her parents marriage got the surnames the wrong way around! (On the copy of the cert that you have)
And her fathers birth:
Australia Birth Index, 1788-1922 about Alexander W Bodle Name: Alexander W Bodle Birth Date: 1849 Father's Name: Robert Bodle Mother's Name: Anne Birth Place: New South Wales Registration Year: 1849 Registration Place: Bungonia, Goulburn, Goulburn Plains, Lake Bathurst, Marulan, New South Wales Volume Number: V18491576 35

Yep that has to be her, great work Ginny!
And spelt BODLE not BODEL.
Alexander & Hannah had other children: William A 1886 Argyle Frank 1888 Argyle Leslie R 1890 Argyle
Seems Mary Ann was named after Alexander's mother:
11204/1938 BODLE ALEXANDER WILLIAM [father] ROBERT [mother] MARY ANNE [district] GOULBURN
15373/1925 BODLE HANNAH [father] RICHARD [mother] ANN [district] GOULBURN
The Sydney Morning Herald, Tuesday 26 April 1938, p.8 BREADALBANE RESIDENT'S DEATH. GOULBURN, Monday. The death occurred in St. John Of God Hospital, Goulburn, of Mr. Alexander William Bodel, 86, a resident of Breadalbane. As a young man he drove a bullock team on the Breadalbane Plains during the seventies of last century, when he travelled a fine team as far afield as Temora. Sixty years ago he married and bought the property known as The Plains and lived there until his death. There are six sons and two daughters. Mrs. Bodel died 12 year ago.
So there are 2 more sons and another daughter somewhere!

Ok I'm confused...have you found a marriage for Mary Ann BODLE b. 1881?
Carrisa hasn't said Mary Ann was married in Goulburn, only that she was born there.
Everything seems to fit, all explained by a slack registrar who mixed up the surnames on the marriage reg! :-)

I will throw a spanner in the works -
I don't think their names were incorrectly swapped around, Mary Ann was born a Bodle.
Carissa said that there was a falling out in the family, is it possible that she went and changed to her mother's maiden name instead!!
