Find Ancestors

Just received Jacob Sapsford's death cert and it states that a Mary Sapsford was present at the death of Jacob, so Mary must have been his mother

How do I find out who Thomas Sapsford bc1802 and Mary unknown b.c1802 are??

slightly confused. Thomas and Mary had their grandson James Sapsford with them in 1861. I thought Thomas Sapsford was the son of Thomas and Mary but looking at the census their was another James Sapsford b.1848 living with his parents Thomas and Francis. Who is the parents of James Sapsford b.1848 with Thomas and Mary?? :-S

There seem to be 2 James sapsford's born in 1848??

I am sure this is the correct one James Sapsford b.1848 Hatfield Broad Oak Married Elizabeth Ann Reynolds in 1868 district of dunmow. All I have to do is get a marriage cert for James and Elizabeth to find out his father.

Jacob died in 1855

Have I got that correct?

If you check Freebmd you will see there were two William Sapsford's born 1853

This could be your one in 1871 as the other one is still living with his parents

You have the 1861 where he is living with mother and stepfather Ancestry has him born 1853 and looking at the image it looks more like 8 rather than 10

sorry Jax totally confused myself. I dont have the 1861-1871 census records for William on my tree on GR. I have records attached to the one on Ancestry but I cant view them. So I dont know?? :-S

that one is wrong. i haven't been on there or here since 2011 and forgot to delete that one. Isreal and Sarah were the first one I thought were Williams parents going by the date of birth

I have just seen a tree on ancestry which I think is yours?? If so why have you added the 1861 and 1871 census for William Sapsford 1858 with parents named Isreal and Sarah?

Thank you Jax. The only problem is that William did put his date of birth as 1856 born on the Heath but if I remember rightly there were no Williams with the fathers name as Jacob born in 1856. So it has to be my William born in 1853. Also I cant seem to find William in 1861-1871. He turns up in 1881- living at 8 cornwall road, Edmonton.

Hi Chris, I think it is, I have sarah as marrying Israel Adams after Jacob died. It just confused me alittle when he put his year of birth as 1856
