The census has her born much later. I think you will need to buy certificates to track down her death

Jules, I think you need to get a birth certificate for one fof the children to find out who the mysterious Annie was....I suggest Zillah or even Eleanor as with these rarer names there's less chance of getting the wrong one.

There's a death of a Jane Driver, St Saviour's, Southwark, Dec qr 1871: I think that's the right reg'n district for at least one of the big hospitals.

Yes he was a painter...! were there any children?

On the 1901 it says Annie was born in Plymouth! As Charles is shown in every census 1861-1901 as being a painter, born in Yarmouth c 1835, I think there's little doubt that he is your man.

Looks like Jane disappeared between 1871 and 1881. She may have died or just taken herself off somewhere. He may not have married Annie and her forename may have been a nickname/middle name, I suppose.
