Actually I just found out that the children the children were born between 1900 and 1917. George Oliver married Rosa Oliver 1944 in barnstaple. George was my father and he was born in 1917.

I did. Guy and Joan were born between 1900 and 1916. George was born in 1917. 1922 and 1919 were NOT to do with there births. So if you did find these then they were not from my family tree. :-D

Julie, you started your post by saying that you were trying to find your ancestor Herbert George Oliver born c1879 Truro. were you actually told that this was the name of your grandfather? or what led you to believe that this was his name and approx date of birth?

I found his year of birth online and his name WAS Herbert George Oliver. :-D

by WAS did you know that his name was Herbert George Oliver before you found him online?

Do you know if Joan or Guy had middle names?
Do you know if your dad's brother or sister have passed away? if so when?
we can then check from their death records their birth year
Did his siter Joan marry and if so who to?

joan is in Australia, Guy died in the early 60's and george died in the 70's.

Julie, maybe his name was Herbert George Oliver but he was not that one born in 1879 in Truro because that one died 1879 in Truro.

Well, now you're saying that Guy and Joan were born before him so how could he be the oldest child?
