Hi Maureen, Thank you very much for looking, you are right she is not mine, so it looks like she stayed on the IOW, I wonder if Basil ever lived with her ? I think he obtained US citizenship in about 1955, he died Jul 1968 in Queens, New York, his wife Jeanne died 21 Sep 2005 on IOW, I am still looking for a death notice for Basil. Thanks, Ann

Hi Ann,
I don't really think she's yours. There's NO info given other than she's a US citizen. I imagine all 3 arrivals are for the same person.

I found this, “Records of immigrants arriving at Canadian land and seaports from January 1, 1936 onwards remain in the custody of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. To request a copy of another person's immigration record, you must mail your request to the under-noted office: “ that is why you couldnt find them Maureen.
Please can any one find Jeanne Brennan she was born 1920 Isle of Wight "New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 Name: Jeanne Brennan port of Arrival: New York," Thank you Ann

Hi Ann,
Just another "blurb" from me- no matter what I do I cannot find any record of the EMPRESS OF AUSTRALIA landing in Canada in Aug/Sept 1939. As you pointed out,WW2 -may have had an effect on the availability of passenger lists.
Best, Maureen

Thank you Maureen, that is interesting, so they were Refugees not students. I had a thought about Basil short stay, he possibly returned home to join up, as WW2 has started while he was away, he had just got his Aviators Certificate it may have been the RAF, I will try to look in to it. Ann

Oh dear!!! I must be the slowest person ever. 1949!!!!!! (Sorry-ref to B Brennen)
Later in 1948, the Scythia was handed to the International Refugee Organisation to take refugees from Europe to Canada. In 1950 she became a passenger ship again, sailing from Britain to Canada and later to New York. Her final route was around the North Sea. In 1958 the Scythia was delivered to the shipbreakers at Inverkeithing by Captain Geoffrey Marr, her final commander.
Had to add that.

Thank you Maureen that is great that fits in nicely, Basil received his Royal Aero Club Aviators Certificate 1 Aug1939 he, then went to Canada on the 18 Aug 1939, returned to the UK on the, 23 Nov 1939 [now can you tell me what he was doing out there :-) ] and married Jeanne Olive Poole in Jun 1/41940 All Saints, Ryde Isle of Wight, I will have to get a copy, Ancestry has the marriage but I don’t know if they have a date?
You are right about the other one not being him, I wouldn’t want to be looking out for them either.
Thank again, Ann
