I thought it might have been Grace but she is with the family in the 1871 census as Grace Glover that I've posted and is still unmarried.

It states on the piece of paper that Bessies parents died together when she was very young, im going to see if i can find a possible entry for 2 yeo deaths at the same time just before she appears on the census!

1901 census for Bessie & Family giving her place of birth as Briton Ferry Wales. Briton Ferry is in the registration district of Neath which fits in nicely with the birth previously given

Im sure this is our Grace Glover,when you look at the original it is the Yeo family AND in the prvious household the servant for the family is a JOHN YEO , looks like this is how they met and had John and Bessie......is kate also a daughter ?

Looking at hte 1871 Grace Glover looks like she could be widowed as the writing looks very similar to the widowed in the household underneath, what does everyone think?

Just found Kate on the 1881 in London with her aunitie Grace Bligh, so the grace on the 1871 may not have been the mother of the 3 grandchildren but another child!

Just by chance my father in law lives in buckland Brewer where John the eldest child claims to have been born. I am going to speak to him tomorrow to check out the records there to see who excatly Johns parents were.

Just found this on Google!!!! Grace and John DO appear to be the parents...........and only John was killed. I am going to email the person who posted this...

My great great grandfather, John Yeo, born around 1841. All that is known is that he was a butcher who married Grace GLOVER, born 1841, Milton Damerel, near Holsworthy, Devon. Evidence would suggest that he travelled quite a lot as I have been unable to find him in the census records.

Their first child, John, was born in Buckland Brewer near Bideford in 1861, however they do not appear to have been living there at the time of the census. They had two daughters, the first was Kate, born in Milton Damerel in 1866.

John Yeo was killed in July 1869 (aged 28) whilst travelling to Briton Ferry, West Glamorgan, where their daughter, Bessie, was born.

Thereafter Grace remarried and moved to London with Kate, leaving her two other children, John and Bessie, to live with her parents in Milton Damerel.

Although I have been in touch with Sheila Yeo (Yeo Society) to discover John Yeo's birthplace, we could only establish that my John Yeo was not from Milton Damerel.

I am now at the stage of trying to search the 1861 census for Devon and Cornwall in an attempt to find a John Yeo aged around 20, probably already married to Grace by this time.

In the 1861 census Grace Glover is living in the Household of William Yeo, I'm just wondering whether Grace's future husband, John, was William's brother. Below is the 1851 census for William who does have a brother John who would be the right age

If the above is correct then the following could be John in 1861 census as I don't believe he married Grace until 1862 as per the marriage that Dea has given above. I've checked the image for the marriage registration and, although it is a bit faint, believe that John Yeo has been entered with the same District, Vol and Page number as that for Grace Glover.

Thank s for your view on things too however i personally think that John yeo and Grace glover were both in East putford in 1861 in houses next door to each other as East Putford is next door to the parish of buckland brewer., where their first child was born in 1862, according to his birthplace on census records.My fil is also having a good check around for me, however thank you for looking for me. I shall also check out the families you listed too but i think my john senior came from st giles in the wood and have found a john in st giles on both the 41 and 51..what do you think??? You could be right about the John from St Giles.....I suppose the only way to be sure would be to get a copy of Grace & John's marriage certificate.

Bessie is working as a Cook Domestic Servant in the Wandsworth and Clapham Infirmary. Most of the other people on the page are Nurses so this could be where the nursing comes into the puzzle
