Find Ancestors

Hi, I'm hoping for a bit of help to find a marriage record. I'm looking for the record of Arthur Wood and Ella Trautmann who had children together starting 1912. Ella had german parents and I have seen her name spelt in many differnt ways: Ella Grace, Helena (Ella) / Trautman, Trentman, Troutman etc...
They had their first child in 1912 in Basford Nottingham and more children in 1916. I have the birth certs of the children in 1916 which name them both as parents (and Ella with the surname Wood), but can't find a record of their marriage anywhere.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you :-D

What was Arthur's occupation on the birth certificates please.
Had he been in the forces at all? Could he have married abroad?

I'm struggling to find a Wood/Trautman birth registered in Basford in 1912. What was the name of the child.

Thanks for this - yes that's her family in the 1911 census. Her first child was Alma (as Astra found) was born in 1912. You would have thought they married if Arthur's name was on the birth certs, but I can't find it.

I wonder if Arthur was already married and couldn't marry her.

ive searched for the marriage between 1908 and 1915 plenty of arthur wood getting married in basford but cant find any trace of ella .

Astra - very much a possibility. One of his daughters always said she was illegitimate but with him being named on the birth certs, we're trying to piece it together. I have found an Arthur L Wood marrying in 1915 in the same area but??.....

Do you know when Arthur died and where?

Thanks Leonard. i don't know much about Arthur - only that he was born in Ikleston in 1887. He was from a big family, and his parents were Alfred Wood and Jane Taylor. In 1911 he lived at home in West Bridgeford, Nottinghamshire.
On their twins birt cert, Arthur and Ella lived in West Bridgeford still.
I haven't found any death details for Arthur. His middle name is Lorenze tho if that helps?

could be although that seems a bit young.. I've got him born 1887 based on 1911 census. Worth a look...

Astra hi... thank you for coming back to me that's great - that has to be him doesn't it? I need to order a few certs (for other branches) and have added this one too. Fingers crossed by the end of the week I'll have a bit more info.. but am still very baffled about the lack of marriage cert - I can only assume Ella took his name but not legally... have drawn a blank.
