I assumed you already had the birth cert for William John - isn't that where you got Maria McNabb's name from? |

You know from your previous research that John's father's name is William, and presumably John's profession will be soldier. |

The 1841 census simply tells you if the person was born in the same county they were residing in 1841, or if they were born abroad. |

Wonder if this is Blanche in 1841. She was not born in county but at least we have a rough birth year to look for. |

You might be advised to get the death cert for 13 yr old Maria Mcnab that Alviegal mentioned, to rule her in or out as the daughter of Blanche and John. |

Given that Maria's family were living in Mitcham Rd Barracks in Croydon in 1891 and that her youngest child was born in Croydon, and that her widowed husband apparently married his house keeper from census 1891 in Croydon, also in 1891, you can't be more certain that the Croydon death is the right one unless you actually buy the death certificate: |

Maria was alive in 1885 as she was married to John Holden and had my grandfather in 1885 on 19th Jan so the death in 1848, could this be a sister to my Maria Mc Nab??? I have idea death could be june 1890? for my Maria Mc Nab in croydon but do not know how to check it.. |
