The first thing to do is to let people who may be able to help you have a few more facts. |

If you obtain a copy of their marriage certificate that should give you details of his father. That will assist in tracking him down in earlier census records. |

I agree with Jonesey. This Edward is also a fitter's labourer in an ironworks which ties in with 1911 but you really need the marriage cert |

Thank youTania, I haven't found that before. It does say Goodhall though and I am pretty sure he is a Goodall. |

I know that waiting can be very frustrating but if I were you I would hold off doing anything else with that Goodall line until the copy certificate arrives. |

I agree Jonesey. I am going to get all the information in first this time instead of jumping to conclusions. And I will check out the Goodhall connection just in case it is a misspell. |

Just to confirm Jonesey's advice. An alternative spelling to Goodall is Goodhall. I know as both names exist in my husband's family way back. |

Sorry Ann, I am new to this. I have made so many mistakes so far. I should have realised that I should add it on. I don't know where to find your information now because it would appear that they have been merged together. I did do as you suggested though and searched all trees. No luck though. Thank you for your patience. I will try to find your information. |

Up Date. The marriage and birth certificates arrived. I don't have it yet my sister does. Edward's father was Richard and his mother was Elizabeth. He seems to have lied on his marriage certificate because he listed himself a 36 yrs old when he was in fact 42 yrs old. Maybe because he was marring my 19 yr old grandmother. It shows his correct age in the 1911 census and also shows the truth about his age. I guess he told her once they were married. |
