Hi ~ not sure if you have traced your relative, I hope you have. Charlotte Theresa Brown Howison was my grandfather's youngest sister. She married Francis Kane & one his sisters married her older brother ~ John. |

The Alexander Kane on the shipping record was a seaman, aged 29 years. So not your Alexander. |

After finding marraige records for Alexander's parents and other relations around 1900/1930 the chruch they all attended is in Uphall, Broxburn. If I can find a record of baptism for him, maybe his Godparents will be listed. His name was changed sometime after 1932. |

Have you looked at the 1930 valuation rolls for 17 Drummond Street please? It must be a block of flats as there seem to be multiply surnames at that address. One of them is a John Howieson. There is also a David Miller. |
