Hi, does anyone please know if there is a site where you can search the censuses for free. I believe I have looked at most sites. Some say they are free and when you go into them you have to pay a subscription. |

The only census that's free to search and view transcriptions is the 1881. You only pay to view the actual image. |

Ann o' GG, probably giving a link would be most useful. |

Hi Marie, thank you for the information. I am looking for the following people but I don't want to be seen to be taking the biscuit so to speak. I am looking for Walter Edward Day born 1881 I believe in London who married Marie Isabelle Adele Noel ( born in 1865 in Folkestone) in 1901 in Islington. I was also hoping to find his and her parents in the Censuses but as above I don't want to be seen to be taking the biscuit for the want of a better word. |

Hi again all, obviously it would be good to actually see the records but it seems that you need subs to do so. Perhaps some kind relative will treat me one day to a subscription to one of the sites. |

Kathryn, no problem looking things up and posting the transcriptions, that's what most people on here ask for help with, so you're not taking the biscuit! |

Thank you, Walter's father was a Robert Day but don't know about his mother, father at the time of his marriage was a pensioned police sergeant. Marie's parent's were Alfred Emile Auguste Noel and her mother was either Marie Elizabeth Boyd or Mary Elizabeth Boyd. As before, Marie Isabelle Adele Noel was born in Folkestone in 1885 but I believe her parents were in 1891 living in the Fulham district. |

Thank you for the information so far. Do Walter and Marie show up at all in the 1911 census please, and if so where were they living? Also, could someone please look up his parents for me although I only have his father's name being Robert Day but I believe that Walter was born in Islington. |

It's amazing what you can find when you have subs, thank you so much. I have work tomorrow so am just going off for about half an hour to sort some stuff out and then I'll be back online. All your help is greatly appreciated. |

I wonder where they got to then as they do not show up in the 1911 census, I doubt whether both of them would have died by then but who knows. I really am going off now for a short while, this is so addictive. |

The only Robert Day that I can see in the 1881 census that shows a police occupation is the one below but no Walter in evidence I'm afraid: |

i beleive this is walters father in the 1891 census as its the only one i could find and on the actual census image his occupation is down as a detective sergeant/met police |

Subs or not... we can best deal with information. Are there children by 1911? |
