Last suggestion for Jan - maybe remove the 'e' from Walter's surname in your heading...may help any searchers find this more easily.

Ah, true -- i was reading something as them being "born by 1930". The names are fairly uncommon, though.
I hadn't given Jan the link for the Ryerson Index:
http://www.ryersonindex.org
and it's pretty straightforward there.
I missed that Bingham listing when I was looking in the white pages.
http://www.whitepages.com.au/search/residential
If you can copy this link, Jan, it takes you right to the page where the listing is:
http://www.whitepages.com.au/resSearch.do?subscriberName=bingham&givenName=p&location=nsw
Thanks Cherilyn and Mel and Eileen, I'd kind of run out of steam, but I think Jan does have a lot to follow up now!
(You guys get married real young down there, don't you? ;) )

Barbara and Gloria would have been born between 1930 and 1940, so Barbara June may still be living...
Actually, looking at that, I wonder if the 1948 marriage is the right one, if this is the right birth year period. Well, I see Gloria married in 1950. Unless of course they both married at age 18...which is possible, given the family circumstances.
There is a P A Bingham in NSW - might be worth a try - see www.whitepages.com.au/wp. Do a residential search on Bingham / P / New South Wales.
Good luck!

Great work Janey!
This confirms he was Walter Thomas BLYTH (without the 'e'), and that he and Stella divorced:
The Sydney Morning Herald, Tuesday 28 October 1941, p.5 DIVORCE COURT Decree nisi: Stella May Blyth v Walter Thomas Blyth
Jan - I'd suggest going to the Ryerson Index site and requesting a lookup of the death notices for Walter & Gloria on there - they have volunteers who visit the libraries and do so. From the home page, on the left hand side.

One daughter is deceased, Eileen, as above -- Gloria Dawn Johnson.
The other would be Barbara June Bingham. I would expect she is deceased as well (born before 1930) but I saw nothing in the NSW index or the Ryerson index.
Mel, I think Jan finds any pay sources (even transcript vs certificate) a little onerous. (Jan gave her dob as 1940 remember.)
At this point I don't think there are many certificates that would help a lot -- the info I've found suggests that newspaper death notices may be the best source for info about the families of
Walter Blyth
his first wife Stella Ashby Blyth Higgs and her second husband Robert Arthur Biggs (there's a death notice for the husband 2002)
his daughters Barbara June Blyth Bingham and Gloria Dawn Blyth Johnson (there's a death notice for Gloria 1985)
-- death notices from Ryerson Index as copied above in thread.
I have no idea whether things like that are available on line. I thought of suggesting the "ask a librarian" service, but I thought maybe Jan would find it easier to speak directly with someone at her local library, who should be able to help her with those newspaper items.
If you guys think of anything else - !

I think Stella Ashby Blyth may have remarried.
17753/1942 HIGGS ROBERT ARTHUR BLYTH STELLA MAY TEMORA
Husband's death:
HIGGS Robert Arthur Death notice 25JUN2002 Death 86 late of Moonbi, formerly of Kanwal Sydney Morning Herald 27JUN2002
This could possibly be a good source as it is quite recent.
Births aren't available for that period, but there was a stillbirth registered to parents Robert and Stella Higgs in 1947.
And Walter Blyth remarried too:
19549/1944 BLYTH WALTER THOMAS MARTIN /WHITE REGINA MARY WAVERLEY

Jan has PMed me about her search.
Jan, first off -- will you take our advice and change your subject line?
In your first post, click the link that says Edit. (Be especially careful *not* to click Delete.)
On the subject line, just add Australia at the end.
Then click Submit.
Jan is getting on a bit and doesn't have access to expensive sources -- and Australian certificates are nothing if not expensive!
Are there any of our Aussie members here who can come up with any more on this?
Jan would like to find her older half-sisters (or maybe their children at this point).
The marriages in the NSW database are Blyth-Johnson and Blyth-Bingham. I haven't come up with anything more on them.
I know there are various things it could be suggested that Jan do, but I'm wondering whether anybody in her vicinity would be in a position to do a bit on her behalf.
Oh, I did find one more thing at the Ryerson Index -- sadly, I think this is probably Gloria's death.
JOHNSON Gloria Dawn Funeral notice 13NOV1985 Death late of Pottsville Northern Star (Lismore) 15NOV1985
I've suggested that Jan take all this info (including the marriages I sent you, Jan) to her local library in Australia and ask for help to see copies of the death notices, at least, because hopefully they'll have family members' names in them.

This certainly looks like that Walter in the 1911 census:
BLYTH WALTER THOMAS 1908 3 St George London living with BLYTH KATE 1889 22
Walter is shown as son.
Because I'm using free search with wildcards I can't be positive, but there appears to be no one else living in the household.
... But Kate is shown as "wife".
Marriages Mar 1906 ? ? BAGGIS Kate Marylebone 1a 878 ? Blyth John William Marylebone 1a 878 ? Boggis Kate Marylebone 1a 878 Knights James Arthur Marylebone 1a 878 MILLOTT Ellen Marylebone 1a 878
There is a Kate Boggis birth 1891 in Sudbury, Essex.
That's just a guess, so far. Info about Walter's parents from his marriage certificate or death certificate/death notice is needed for going further!

Might Walter be one of these people?
Births Mar 1894 Blythe Walter Tandy Glanford B. 7a 709
Births Sep 1907 BLYTHE Walter Thomas Bridgend 11a 931
-- the only ones born after 1878.
Again, his marriage certificate (or possibly your birth certificate?) should give you his full name.
I don't see deaths in England for either of those people. (There's a Walter T Blythe marriage to Hase in Norfolk in 1919, so that would be the older one.
Aha.
http://www.findmypast.co.uk/passengerListPersonSearchStart.action
BLYTH Walter T 1908 M 1924 London Australia Sydney
I don't have a subscription to FMP to view the details of that record. Someone else here will -- but as suggested above, it would help to edit your first post to add "Australia" to the heading, since most threads here are not about Australia. He was the only Blyth travelling on that voyage, though.
Someone at this website has Walter Blythe born 1907 in England in his tree. (Saying "England" might indicate that the tree owner isn't in England.) I would contact that person.
Use the Search Trees button in the row up above, just search for the name Walter Blythe, don't bother with a date or place, and that result is on the first page of results. Click the button beside the name to send a message. If the has an up to date email address in their account, they will get a notification. You can check whether the message has been read by looking in your "Sent messages" (purple envelope = not read).
... Unless this is someone you know already.
With this info about Walter, which seems rather definite, you can also add him to your tree.

But do you have the marriage certificate?
It should give you his parents' names, and his age. Sometimes going backwards is the best way of coming forwards -- if you know ancestors, you can sometimes find descendants.
http://www.ryersonindex.org/
There are only two Walter Blyth deaths indexed there; the other is plainly wrong by the name.
BLYTH Walter Death notice 13JUN1985 late of Cabramatta Sydney Morning Herald
If that were the correct Walter, the death notice itself could name family members, including his daughter's married surnames, if any, and possibly grandchildren's names -- you would be able to tell whether it was a match.
