Sorry - yes he may be the father. His birth year in the 1891 census is given as 1821. |

Does the surname on the certificate definitely look like Byle? Is it possible that the original was copied wrongly onto the index? |

it looks like Byle ive looked at the other letters and writting to compare it |

This is just an idea - and could be absolute rubbish - but on the 1871 census there is a Barbara Bayley in Rye, Sussex who is a servant with a family. A couple of doors away is a family of Bayley's where the head is called Edward Bayley (could be Barbara's father). |
