I tried to look on a few pages on the ship's register. Births at sea are recorded at the end of the list, but didn't see one for the correct ship. |

Hi, I believe the inheritence was on my grandfather's side so the Rabettes. I have found an address that was given for them whilst they were in Australia 31 King Street, Randwick, Sydney, NSW. I found this on a piece of paper whilst searching for something else. Sorry I haven't been online over the past few days but have been in London. |

Hi All, just to let you know I now have copy of Mum's birth certificate. Yes, she was born at sea on the ss Beltana, port of registry, Greenock. Thank you all for your help it is much appreciated. I now have the task of trying to find out, if possible, what land granddad and grandma inherited. A place of abode for them is given on the birth cert as 31 King Street, Randwick, Sydney, NSW. We now know they were only there for a matter of weeks, maybe about four. So far as I know there were no relatives in Australia so this is the next mystery? |

Kathryn, it may be an idea to edit the title of this thread to reflect you're now interested in locating property in Australia. (Go to your first post and click edit). |

Hi all, this is now a new search for my grandparents inheriting land in Sydney in 1924. They travelled from England to Sydney on the ss Balranald leaving in March 1924. They returned to England arriving back on 14 July 1924. They were therefore only in Australia for around four weeks. It has been told to me that they inherited some land and that was the reason they were out there. Granddad was Edward Gerrard Rabette and Grandma Marie Helene Rabette nee Day. Whilst in Sydney they stayed at 31 King Street, Randwick, Sydney, NSW. So far as I know there were no relatives living in Australia. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how I could find out what they actually inherited ie is there something in a local newspaper or a record anywhere? |
