If Hilda was 9 weeks when she put into Barnardos her birth would have already been registered , If the Workhouse Infirmary reg Hilda's death then would they know who the purported father was, |

Address on death certificate of Hilda Mizen before she died in 1920 is Abbey Lane, Ixworth Suffolk, she was listed as a domestic servant |

Barnados notes only say he is the putative father but as brought her to the orphanage and he offerred to pay money for her to stay with them, he is our only link, Her birth certificate is blank for father. We knew her as McCarthy Mizen so assume he was - all very vague |

The informants on both birth certs and death cert of daughter and mother respectively were F G Roach, Occupier, 36 Mill Road, Bury St Edmunds the death cert was registered on 31 August 1920 and the birth registered on 15 October. Have no idea who this is. Hilda Mizen (mother) was living as a domistic servant in abbey lane, Ixworth, suffolk |

36 Mill Road could have been the postal address of the Workhouse Infirmary. They stopped using the Description of Workhouse Infirmary and used postal addresses because people objected to the stigma of Workhouse when they had just been in the Hospital for childbirth or medical treatment . These Infirmary's often became the local Hospital when the NHS came into being in the 1940.s |

Can anyone help with the previous posting. Having found an unexpected branch of the family, I am now trying to find family Pryer (if there was anyone). I have only traced backwards. Can anyone give me some advice on going forwards from Edith Lilian Pryer born 1910. Thank you |

I still can't locate any death record for Esther Mizen born 1881 married Peter Phillip Pryer in 1909. I think they had three children. Can anyone help with the date of death and/or if Edith Lilian Pryer got married. |

I think I have traced my grandmother's father. John McCarthy, R.G.A, Gunner 41449. I have found his medal card on Ancestry and he was awarded the Victory, British and 1915 Star. I think he served in France around 1914. There doesn't seem to be any more information on the medal card. Does anyone know where I may be able to find out his DOB, where he may have died. I know he was posted abroad from Falmouth in 1920. Any assistance greatly appreciated. |
