A big THANK YOU to all of you who have responded so far. I have a fair bit of garbled information already but it is difficult to put it into perspective without help. Names do change a lot it seems regards spelling, and 'Patrick' it seems is Batcup/Batecup & various other spellings.
Frederick Muggridge (later Muggeridge) is not such a problem and is related to me a fair way back through my grandmothers side.
I do thank you all and when any more info is gleaned I'll have to do a big shuffle and try to sort all these folks out. Perhaps I should have just ignored this side but don't we all like a challenge?
I had heard that Caroline had been in the workhouse and I think another member of her family was too. There is also a big connection with the Gill family as Mary Ann Larkin c 1862 married Walter Gill c1826, and so the names grow.
A final BIG thank you and keep any more info coming in PLEASE!

They are a bit complicated but maybe it's becoming a bit clearer? or is it worse??

brummiejan, I'm saving everything onto Word, then lots of spare paper, two paracetamols, several pens, (I've never written with my fingers crossed before!) the patience of Job and a prayer that it was all worth while in the first place...
I just think everyone on here is totally wonderful and I bow to superior knowledge. I think this has been the trickiest family link I've tackled so far (well, YOU have all tackled for me). But I'm sure I'll get my 'house in order' in the end with so much help flowing in.

A couple of paracetamols?? 2 bottles of brandy at the very least I would say.

Right I think I've got my head round most of it.

If we look at 1871 census that shows the young Albert Larkin with Grandparents. Jacob & Charlotte.

Charlotte is actually Caroline Larkins Mother who married Jacob BARTUP in sep 1864.
Marriages Sep 1864 (>99%)
Bartup Jacob Rye 2b 3

It should read Step daughter for Harriet NOT Grandaughter.

Here she is with the Gills as a Lodger. It should read mother in law as she is the mother of Mary Gill nee Larkin

I would say your connection with these three names all centers around the Larkins.

Mary Larkin married Walter Gill in 1850.

Here is Mary with her mother Charlotte in 1841

I hope I've explained myself properly.

The Larkins are with the Bartups in 1871 because the grandnother Charlotte Larkin married Jacob.

The Gill connection is Mary Larkin.

I would think the Frederick Muggeridge you mention is actually James Frederick Larkin as I mentioned earlier & that he & Albert are the illegitimate children of Caroline Larkin.

James Frederick may well be the son of John Muggridge but born before the marriage, unfortunately we can't prove or disprove this.

Most of the info above was found on the previous page I've just given my interpretation of it all.

Some one else may be able to point out something I've missed.
