Austin Joseph born 1873 Oxted, Surrey, could also be Joseph born 1865 in Leeds. Married Lillie and had 4 children, Bertie, Ethel, Amy, Victoria. Seems to have married Martha in 1906 and had Olive, Norman, Queenie and Arthur. Joseph fought in second Boer War and First World War. When married to Lillie he lived in Yorkshire, when married to Martha he lived in St Helens, Lancashire. Does anyone have any of this Britton family in their tree? |

Can't see a marriage to Lillie but this could be his 2nd marriage |

Austin/Joseph appears to have married Lillie first and Martha second and perhaps bigamously. I have his original marriage certificate to Martha and also a copy from the archive. He appears to have tried to change his date of birth on the original to make him appear younger in order to sign up for the First World war. I am guessing he suffered PTSD from Boer War and walked out on his family with Lillie. I am descended from his marriage to Martha. I would like to trace his first family who were last heard of in Halifax in 1905. |

Have just googled 'Queenie' and apparently it was used as a nickname for girls called Victoria. |
