thanks for all your help but I have all the info you have provided and have hit a brick wall as there is no trace after 1911 census

I will keep on trying

Lucy claims to have been married for two years in census 1911.

Have you eliminated the 1908 marriage posted by Tootyfruity which would tie in with this?

Edit: I see a Lucy McClay was born c1880 Tranmere, Cheshire, whereas Lucy Morton claims to have been born c1880 Exeter, Devon, so assume this is why you discounted that marriage.

Edit: have now found William Andrew Morton and Lucy nee McClay living in Birkenhead in census 1911.

Avril Report 3 Jan 2011 23:59

I have eliminated the 1908 marriage posted by Tootyfruity -
I am trying to find out if the name Lucy is short for another name

My other route is to try to find the death of William Morton - I have found one in 1915 in Rochford - but cannot see a reason why William would be in Rochford as its in Essex.

thanks for any help you can give

tried that no success. I have found a William Moreton marrying Lucy Illidge in 1909 in West Derby but I cannot find her birth

Katie

Katie Report 5 Jan 2011 22:03

I think that marriage may relate to this lady
1901
PORTER, Edmund Head Married M 67 1834 Brewery Coachman
Codsall Staffordshire
PORTER, Elizabeth Wife Married F 69 1832 Bilston Staffordshire
ILLIDGE, Lucy Daughter Married F 24 1877 Wolverhampton
Staffordshire
ILLIDGE, Alfred Son-In-Law Married M 29 1872 Barman In Spirit Vaults
Wolverhampton Staffordshire

Her husband died in 1907. There don't appear to be any Devon connections.

Can you explain why you are tracking them?

If you can find no trace of them since 1911, how are you related?
