Glynis,

Continuing from yesterday........to make things clearer and try and get a better picture...........the 2 older sisters births (if you are not sure of Naomis dates) are on free BMD.........why not send for one or both to try and glean more info.

Also if you google Monmouthshire parish records, there are hundreds of Baps Marriages deaths on there...........you may get lucky!

I'm not mad! Because having seen that there was a previous thread and it's been deleted, I won't be going near this one. ;)

And I am sure I'm not the only one.

just come online from aust, and looking for a REPLY to all the research I did yesterday. Gone with the wind.
but hello there is still one thread on records board 1251364 about this same request.

Yesterday I gave these marriages.
source Free bmd uk Wales
Marriages Dec quarter 1879
Morgan Naomi Abergavenny 11a 71
Powell Thomas 11a 71
or
Williams William 11a 71

I have not tried to find any passengers to Aust yet as The marriage name is not confirmed.
I said 'one thing at a time . or we are likely to go down the wrong path.'

Naomi morgan could not have been sent to australia as a convict - if that is what is implied-

The last convict ship to Australia docked in Fremantle WA in January 1868.

Naomi would have been about 10 years old at that time and all the convicts on that ship were adults.

Hi Glynnis,

I didn't realise you had deleted the thread with all the information about possibles births, marriages and emigration of Naomi to America rather than Australia that I had found. It would have been far better for you to have kept it and left it going.

Did you keep any record fo what I found? That would have saved people putting the census information etc that I had found for you.

As per your pm I will try to recreate the information that I had found with her husband's anme however I said that this was only based upon one of the three births that I had found.

Until you request the certificate that shows her parents, you may be following a completely incorrect person.

With regards to the Cordy/Morgan relationship, the census that I found shows that Naomi and three siblings were step children of Thomas. It then goes on to show in that census and the later ones that Thomas and Mary had at least 4 more children together. So you could reasonably assume that Naomi's mother had married previously and perhaps had been widowed or had seperated from her husband by the 1871 census.

Anyway I'll see what I can recreate for you but pelase can you keep this thread going rather than delete, if you are not going to get the birth certificates first?

Thanks

Morning Glynis,

If you are sure of the birth for Naomi I would go for that as it will confirm her mothers maiden name and name her father also.

i checked last night re the 1861, and there are issues with returns for Monmouthshire..........meaning there are pieces missing........perhaps this explains why we are unable to find the family. Let us know the results of the cert when you get it.

lancashireAnn Report 7 Dec 2010 16:54

If I remember rightly Mary Ann was born in Llanfoist. If she was still living in llanfoist in 1861 there is a possibilty you will not find her on the census as half of Llanfoist census (the half that includes a lot of my family!) is completely missing.

I could not find a baptism for Naomi in llanwenarth on the monfamilies site, or in Blaenavon or llanover. Llanfoist baptisms are only on line up to 1812.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 7 Dec 2010 17:03

we had several conversations yesterday about mary ann's maiden name. As other people have pointed out today if she was born Harris and married Thomas Cordy as a Harris then the Morgan children ARE NOT hers.

You have not told us why you are convinced that Mary Ann was born Mary Ann Harris other than hearsay.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 7 Dec 2010 17:07

which Naomi did you send for?

Births Sep 1858 (>99%)
Morgan Naomi Crickhowell 11b 122 Scan available - click to view
Morgan Naomi Abergavenny 11a 61 Scan available - click to view

Llanwenarth is Abergavenny - Mary Ann & Thomas' marriage was Crickhowell

I think we advised yesterday that the best certificate to apply for would be your (gt?) grandmother Emma Cordy which would prove her mother's previous names
