Louisa must have been the daughter of either John, Samuel, James or Richard, the brothers of Walton. Looks like two generations of the family went to or stayed in America. I am presuming Richard c1791 died before 1851 being only on the 1841 census though am starting to wonder if he spent time in the US too....................

Yes, I'm wondering that as I can't find him on any census, or a death.

However I've found Tennants with a Wakefield/Chorlton connection in your family that I'm following, including ones with the name Clementina. I think you can be fairly sure of that baptism that Annette found.

Well done. That's solved that little mystery. I wonder if John died in the US and Louisa was sent back to grandparents.

Not sure but it would seem that at least two generations of Tennant brothers went to the US, now I just need to find out what happened to the rest of them, thanks for your help, has been a fascinating little progression. Do we have any matches? Mark.

Hello Mark,

I have been away for Christmas. I hope you had a good one.

No, we don't have any matches. I became intrigued and lent a hand.
