His Grandfather Peter Latreille b abt 1768 Wapping married to Mary Claridge
Not got any further than that
As far as we know they came from London, but who knows!!

by the way Meredith is a very common name in Wales - forname and surname

Am worried that Harold is Harold J Meredith on his marriage ref.

The only Harold J Merediths in the right time frame seem to have been born in Wales, so we might be barking up the wrong tree looking for a London family.

I would strongly recommend sending off for the marriage certificate to see what it states about his father. That then gives you a sound basis for tracing his family back over. (Unless you have reason to believe that his father was unknown).

Hi Marie, yes I have Harold`s mother & no father, this was obtained from another family tree, I had not got as far as that with my own research.
