Catherine Garland married Andrew Connelly 2/2/1903 and she was lvivng at 11 John St Dundee at the time. She later had a son with William McGregor called Robert on 24.12.1921 in Dundee. Roberts birth cert shows Catherine's husband as Andrew Connelly. So it seems that William and Catherine weren't married. William later married Jane Thompson and had a son David who died aged 8 but I can't find any marriage certificate for William. He also had 2 children young. He was born 1895. I would think that his son would have also been called William. He had a daughter too. We know nothing else. I would like to find Catherines family and also Williams first wife and children details.

Is William McGregor named on Robert's birth certificate please?

It is more usual, if the husband is not the father for this to be stated on the birth certificate.

Her marriage entry to Andrew will give her parents' names including her mother's maiden surname. If she died in Scotland, then her death entry will give all spouses if the informant knew the details.

I'm looking for both ancestors and descendants was starting with ancestors. The marriage cert 12/2/1903 shows Catherines parents as Thomas Garland licensed street porter deceased and Margaret Garland nee Cluft. Witness Mary Kelly. Catherine was 24.
William McGregor was born in Blairgowrie 31/5/1885 westfield terrace rattray. mother was widow of james stewart.
David mcgregor died 13/5/1938 address 208 seagate dundee
mary jane mcgregor died 5/1/1945
William was in the scots fusilers in 1st world war.

The address for Catherine on that 1901 census is the same address as Linda has given from the marriage certificate. The death that Aileen has found has the same parents as found on the census records. I wonder why she gave different parents on her marriage to Andrew.

So it would appear that Jessie's mother is Margaret rather than Jean?
