Hi All,this is a real tough one.Im looking for the maiden name of a Ellen Hope born circa 1847,she was married to a Golden Hope born circa 1821-26,I have looked for a marriage between 1869-1874,but to no avail their 1st child wa born 1875 her name being Ellen born Epsom,Surrey,PLEASE-Im hoping someone can help.thanking you in advance Terry |

The birth certificate of her child will have her maiden name on it. |

Pat what I mean is that some other family member sent for the birth cert and her maiden name was not on it |

Golden is not a nickname - I remember when Barbara Windsor did "Who do you think you are" one of her rellies was called Golden |

Hi Terry - Do you think perhaps this would a good time to check everything you are absolutely sure of working backwards. Just to make sure that you haven't got 2 families mixed up? Also, when you say the birth cert doesn't have a mothers maiden name are you saying that it just gives parents as Golden Hope and Ellen Hope? If so that's most unusual. |

Hi Christine,no im sure ive got the same family the problem is that they were gypsys and in every census they either changed there names or where they were born,this has been an ongoing tree for a few years now,and ive almost pieced it all together,with a few acceptions this case of finding out Ellens maiden name,one family member has been trying for 15yrs so you could say its the last piece of the puzzle |

Thank you Elizabeth and thank you Chris,yes that is the same Golden Chris,and I will look up to see if Ellens maiden name might of been the same. |
