Now are we wanting to find out about this secret sister?

Also, do you want to track down your nan Edna's sisters' marriages and their children? Cousins of your dad, they would be. I guess he didn't have contact with any of his mum's family?

Was this secret daughter born after her marriage to your grandfather then?

There definitely will come a point when info will have to be sent to you by PM as it will be about living people, or sensitive info about living people's parents, that sort of thing.

I will take Doris and Nellie and you take Eveline and Annette Janey?

Are you willing to spend money on certificates for this IIC?
I think you will need to get some to confirm some things.

I can't just at the moment but I may be able to a little later. I'm tripled up on work.

I did take a poke at finding Annette's birth but no luck for that given name with surname and/or mother Harris in Warwickshire anytime around 1935.

edit - 1930-1940, Annette with mother Harris -- there are only 11, and not one of them is anywhere near Warwickshire. The only Harris with mother Harris is in Oxford, first quarter 1940, so that looks unlikely, do you think? Or maybe?

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 20:38

Found her. I'll send you the birth reg by PM just so you have it.

FBG -- there's one N in Annette.

Think I found her marriage too, am looking for kids, etc., will send it all when I finish!

We should all remember to say "you're welcome" as often as somebody says "thank you". ;)

I will work on trying to find nans sisters children then and PM them to you IIC if/when I find any,I also find it easier to ask our dear friend Ginny for ER lookups myself as I have the info in front of me so will send any addresses she can find for your nans sisters children by PM to you as well..
But it may take me a couple of days in between other things like cooking/cleaning/ seeing to"HimInDoors"etc.

Thank you JC
Whew, wasnt looking forward to tracking Anette..

You are welcome IIC.
Its a real pleasure to do something for someone who hangs about to answer questions/reply and says THANK YOU..!
Please to call me Fan or FBG,everyone else does.

Electoral Roll lookup, for addresses to which you can write.

Nellies marriage

Marriages Sep 1929
Harris Nellie Preston Birmingham S. 6d 852
Preston George B Harris Birmingham S. 6d 852

George ,not Stan?

But they did have a son called Stanley, will send the childrens births now.

Found A's marriage and kids, but can't find any marriages for the kids ... don't see deaths for A and her husband ... don't see any one of the lot on the electoral roll anytime from 2002 at 192.com ... don't see any telephone listings in Warwickshire at BT online that leap out (there's no A or F (husband) that matches when the postcode is tested against the ER for free checking, but there are a half-dozen each Ms and Rs (kids) in the phone book, but no one with the kids' names on the ER (the kids would likely have other surnames now).

I considered emigration, but of course FMP only goes to 1960, the year the second kid was born.

What you can do though, IIB, is put the names and dates you have now (Edna's sisters and A's family) in your tree. Not that anybody else has any of A's family in theirs. ;)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 21:23

rrrrr ... remember when I said *all of it* -- the info you have?

Well, that includes info about where people are, i.e. that A and her family are in the US as you just told me by PM. I wouldn't have gone hunting for them in the phone book and electoral roll in England.

Before I saw your PM, I was googling, because the surname isn't hugely common, and I found an RAK (the name of one of A's kids) who is a pretty hot-shot lawyer in New York. Do you suppose?

This was all assuming you'd like to be in touch with them! A's kids would be your half-cousins. ;)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 21:25

I must have been composing a post, wandered off to read your PM, then composed that one instead.

If the trail I built was correct, then yup, nobody has A's family (her or her husband and kids) their tree here. But then, if they're in the US, not surprising!

FannyByGaslight

Name: Eveline Harris
Spouse Surname: Moore(William K)
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1943
Registration district: Birmingham
Registration county (inferred): Warwickshire
Volume Number: 6d
Page Number: 1119

Only one child of theirs that I can be pretty certain is theirs.
Sending his name on.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 21:42

Sending you some info, including a Facebook page that *could* be A ...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 4 Nov 2010 21:48

Too many choices for a Doris A Harris marriage even in Birmingham alone with no idea of who she married .
So I will not persue her...

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 21:53

I am da bomb.

Just sent you contact info (address and phone number) for A and her husband and daughter in the US.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 4 Nov 2010 22:00

Just waiting on one more lookup from Ginny, she got a name wrong and searched under Nellies daughters maiden name instead of her possible (2)married names.
So I have pointed out that although I missed a death of one person (sadly)I asked her to lookup, she can slip up too .;)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 22:07

I think it means there are a gazillion Wood families. ;)

Getting the Harris-Wood marriage certificate will confirm who their parents were, to start hunting back for them.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 22:09

Ahem.

Am I not da bomb, then?

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 4 Nov 2010 22:13

What is "da bomb"JC,I dont get that bit of Canuck slang.

There are a lot of Harris/Wood births in and around the right time in Kings Norton to be nans brothers and sisters(or not),but I only picked the names we knew for sure.
You can see them all on http://freebmd.org.uk

Have we noticed how this thread still appears in the board list?

(Editing the content doesn't change how it shows up in the list.)

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Nov 2010 22:17

Oh, FBG, it's urban USAmerican slang, I believe. Got google at all? ;)

... Har har, oh woe is me. I asked urbandictionary, to my sorrow.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=da%20bomb

Da Bomb
A really stupid way of saying something's awesome
...I mean how old is it now??
[example:]
Dude: Wooow! That wuz da bomb!
Guy: Dude, thats old...shut up.

but then we have

da bomb
the best ~ simply outstanding; no comparison or greater value
can be placed to another of similar type of manner

I'll take that one. ;)

even though it's, like, kinda illiterate.
