Mystery solved.
Patricia Morgan has confirmed that her father Albert Morgan's nickname was Jerry.
You have also successfully found the 3 daughters of Albert which Pat has also confirmed although I was originally told only two .
Apparently the parents never returned to England but died in Australia. So it can be assumed that Jeremiah Cecil Morgan never left England and was not a relative of mine.
Once again thank you all very much for your research.

So Albert is "Jerry" ?

The childrens births I sent sound about right although there were three daughters ?? but whose counting

Looks like the mystery is now solved then?

I was informed b y my brother that they had a son and two daughters born in England. One of the daughters moved to Australia and the parents missed her so much that they also moved to Australia in,I think,1973.
I am hoping to receive more information from Albert's eldest daughter who is in Australia at the moment.

Looks like Albert and he married a Lilian ??

Name: Albert R Morgan
Spouse Surname: Brownsell
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1939
Registration district: West Ham
Registration county (inferred): Essex
Volume Number: 4a
Page Number: 163
Find Spouse: Find Spouse
Lilian J Brownsell Morgan Jan-Feb-Mar 1939 West Ham Essex

It looks like they had children and were living in the UK up until 1948 at least.... will pm the children.

Cannot see any deaths for these two but they could still be living born 1921 and 1922 or died since 2006

Also have found poss marriages for the children I sent you

Do you know when Jerry was living in Australia?

jax

jax Report 5 Nov 2010 03:31

Since I happen to be here and I read this the other day ... that death for ref:

Name: Jeremiah Cecil Morgan
Birth Date: 8 Dec 1908
Death Registration Month/Year: 1982
Registration district: Southend On Sea
Inferred County: Essex
Volume: 9
Page: 2593

It does seem a large coincidence that that Jeremiah married a Lilian.

Name: Lilian Ethel Morgan
Birth Date: 30 Sep 1909
Death Registration Month/Year: 1981
Registration district: Southend On Sea
Inferred County: Essex
Volume: 9
Page: 2871

Births Dec 1909
Rawlings Lilian Ethel Paddington 1a 10

Kenneth

Kenneth Report 5 Nov 2010 03:10

I also found out that Jeremiah Cecil Morgan died in Essex in 1982 whereas i assume he would have died in Australia, but may of course have returned to UK.

Kenneth

Kenneth Report 5 Nov 2010 03:00

I agree that the 1911 census is correct and that Ada Rose probably preferred to be called Mary.
If you were not aware I live in Australia whereas my siblings live in England which is the reason there is usually a delay before I reply to you, particularly as my eldest brother does not have a computer and has to go to the library to check his emails.
All the information you have given me I found to be either accurate or fairly plausible and I thank you for your efforts and time. However, when I relayed the info re Jerry to my brother he stated that Jeremiah could not be our Jerry if born in 1909. He said that Jerry was still a young man when he knew him and not our fathers age.
I will check with him again but may well have to do some more research.

jax

jax Report 3 Nov 2010 04:05

I have also sent you a private message as I thought you had missed all the info given.

I hope you will take another look at the 1911 census for George Tofts and agree that is probably correct as there are no other marriages in those names at that time. Just because she is named as Mary does not mean it is not Ada, that may have been the name she preferred for some reason??

Kenneth Report 3 Nov 2010 03:53

After I penned the above reply I noticed that more information had been added which is even more interesting.
You are most probably correct in stating that Jerry was firstly an honorary uncle and later regarded as a half brother to my father
Many thanks for also posting details of Harry Morgan and my grandmother.

jax

jax Report 3 Nov 2010 03:46

Kenneth did you not see that those two children were also registered as Morgan?
Why do you think the 1911 are not your family is that not your father with them?
Jerry seems to be Harry Morgans child from his first marriage

Firstly I wish to thank all the people who kindly posted replies and answers to my query.
Secondly I regret the delay in responding to some of your queries but I have either been away from home or emailing and phoning relatives in England seeking further information.
I have now determined that the George William Tofts 1881 and Mary J 1882 plus the 3 children mentioned were not my family but another branch of Tofts.Coincidentaly and confusingly all, with the exception of Mary, had the same names as my relations.
As my grandfather died in 1918 the two children born in 1921 and 1924 with the surname Tofts would have been fathered by Morgan.Jerry must have been a nickname for Albert.Thank you all very much for your input.

jax

jax Report 31 Oct 2010 12:55

Thanks for you input David but why have you stated her name was Rosemary? when infact it was not

jax

David

David Report 31 Oct 2010 11:37

Thats because she was Ada Rosemary - either shortened to Rose or Mary.

jax

jax Report 30 Oct 2010 20:17

Looking at the times Kenneth posted he could well not be in the UK so if he has not returned by the early hours I will pm him

I could not see anything on the passager list on FMP for Jerry though

jax

jax

jax Report 30 Oct 2010 20:12

Just need Kenneth to return and let us know if we are right now.
Odd that Ada was down as Mary on the 1911 but nothing surprises me now with these census's

Quoy

Quoy Report 30 Oct 2010 20:12

are you going to pm Kenneth so that he can update his post as to who he is looking for in Australia
or leave it as is

Quoy

Quoy Report 30 Oct 2010 20:05

exactly
the same as my mother and father inlaw did

jax

jax Report 30 Oct 2010 19:48

I'm thinking step brother rather than half brother is that what you are thinking Quoy?

Maybe Harry left Julia after the war and took up with Ada had a couple of children in 1921 and 24 and married in 1944 because either Julia then died or they divorced
